Vaccines & Boosters Dial-Up Protection
As Omicron surges, you probably know (at least) one person who is vaccinated or even boosted who has gotten a "breakthrough" case of COVID-19. If vaccinated people are getting infected, does that mean vaccinations don't work? NO, the vaccines are working to provide critical protection. It is more important than ever to get vaccinated and boosted if you haven't already.
Think of vaccines and boosters like a DIMMER rather than an ON/OFF light switch. The more protected you are, the less *likely* you are to be infected. More layers of protection (boosters, masks, ventilation, distancing) dial-up your protection and lower your overall risk. With so much COVID-19 circulating, it is still possible to be infected if you've been vaccinated, but less likely. And you want to make sure you and your family have the highest degree of protection possible (dialed UP) against Omicron.
COVID-19 vaccines continue to provide strong protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death. COVID-19 vaccines with boosters are providing a strong degree of protection against Omicron infection, too.
